Author: JMCXTY
Subject: 104
Posted: 28-Feb-2008 at 06:39

I'm no expert, but I think most products these days are pretty good.
Main points: Wash first so you don't rub dust and dirt in.
No direct sunlight and try not to wax if paint work too hot, hot paint is softer and you are much more likely to scratch it.
Just do one panel at a time to stay on top of things, some harder waxes go real hard real quick and can get difficult to buff off. Keep away from your plastics, glass, rubbers and hard to get to cracks as its a bitch to get off. Newer clear waxes you don't have as much white residue
to deal with and are often much easier to use.
Id be staying with the main brands Mothers, Turtle, meguiars etc the are tried and true. Its got to be one of the most satisfying things you can do. P.S. if you think your paint work is looking oxidised talk to some one specialised in cutting paint work, in my experience if you don't know what you are doing you can make a real mess.

Edited by JMCXTY - 28-Feb-2008 at 12:44

    Author: sledgeharvy
Subject: 104
Posted: 07-Feb-2008 at 23:54

I don't know if you all have used the new Meguiar's NXT Generation 2.0 Wax.. but It's AMAZING!!.. It's a little harder to apply than the Eagle One Nanowax... but taking it off is just as easy also with the same results of not having to deal with that White powdery residue... I hate that stuff.. which is why these two products are so likeable in my opinion... The Meguiar's is kind of expensive stuff.. in comparision to the Eagle One Nano Wax.. but it's definitely better than the previous version of Meguiar's NXT Generation Wax...
I Hope this has helped anyone who was conteplating whether to buy that stuff or not... OH!!. by the way.. for those of you who want to compare it to Turtle Wax's ICE... IT's WAY BETTER!!.. I like the ease of use of the ICE.. but for longevity and Clearity in the Reflection.. my choice is the Meguiar's NXT 2.0 over the ICE...
If I had to rate the three I'd have to go with the Eagle One Nanowax $9.99, (because of it's ease of use and results and longevity, and Price) then the Meguiar's NXT Generation 2.0 $15.99, (because it's a little harder to apply, but the reults are just as good as the Nanowax, and longevity is just as good) then the Turtle Wax ICE $15.99. Sorry Turtle Wax... It's a Great product if you're just one of those enthusiasts who just wants to spend time with their car a little more often than the average person... or something to that nature.. but if you have a car whose paint job has seen better days and needs a product with a little more abrasiveness to it to help eliminate the swirl marks, go with the Nanowax or Meguiar's NXT 2.0...
Once again I hope this has helped you all if any of you all are in the market for a new wax product and don't know which to choose...

Edited by sledgeharvy - 08-Feb-2008 at 05:56

    Author: sledgeharvy
Subject: 104
Posted: 17-Jan-2007 at 20:29

Hey Guys!!.. I just wanted to say I just "Clayed my W8 and OH!!. MY .. GOD!!.. It looks Gorgeous.. as if it didn't before.. but .. that's besides the point... I was noticing on the bumper the fact that it wasn't feeling as smooth as it normally is.. so I decided to Clay it... along with the rest of the car!!.. I used the Meguiars Clay System... I just have to say the results were AMAZING!!.. I topped it off with Meguiars NXT Generation Wax Paste... Smooth can't even fully explain how smooth it is.. Meguiars is going to hve to creat a new word for how smooth their products get their consumers cars,!!.. ha ha!.. Just kidding.. I'll get off they D*ck.. but seriously .. If you are experiencing any kind of unsmoothness to your cars paint... try "Claying" it.. I don't really think it matters what name brand you use.. Mothers has one that's Great also.. Hawaian Shine.. or something like that has one also.. if you like their products...I know I use my W8 as my daily driver being the fact that it's my ONLY car.. I like my W8 to shine as if it was still a brand new 2007 or whatever year the newest car year is.. also I would like to make sure I use products that are going to keep the car looking like a brand new so just in case I eventually need to trade it in for a New Passat.. or Phaeton.. the next person owning my W8 will get the deal of a century.. and will take pride into it as I and many other of us W8 owners are!!.. not to mention Car Value... It's nice to drive around in it or any other car for that matter that you've just spent many painstaking hours cleaning, shining, waxing, claying, buffing and what ever else you spent hours doing.. I think sometimes it almost feels like the car runs better when the car has just been spoiled by a good number of hours of you nuturing it's beauty back to Perfectness... ha ha.. or maybe I'm just as the Meguiars Guru himself says.. I'm just Car Crazy...!!!

Edited by sledgeharvy - 18-Jan-2007 at 02:30
