Well I finally had a few hours and a cool day to clay my W8. Betweem washing and claying it took about 2.5 hours to do the wagon. Tomorrow I will use a pre cleaner and then layer of sealant. Pics to follow when I'm done.

i love a freshly clayed W8. I clayed mine right after having some body work done, and claying and waxing fresh clearcoat is something to behold.

I'm no expert, but I think most products these days are pretty good.
Main points: Wash first so you don't rub dust and dirt in. No direct sunlight and try not to wax if paint work too hot, hot paint is softer and you are much more likely to scratch it. Just do one panel at a time to stay on top of things, some harder waxes go real hard real quick and can get difficult to buff off. Keep away from your plastics, glass, rubbers and hard to get to cracks as its a bitch to get off. Newer clear waxes you don't have as much white residue to deal with and are often much easier to use. Id be staying with the main brands Mothers, Turtle, meguiars etc the are tried and true. Its got to be one of the most satisfying things you can do. P.S. if you think your paint work is looking oxidised talk to some one specialised in cutting paint work, in my experience if you don't know what you are doing you can make a real mess.Edited by JMCXTY - 28-Feb-2008 at 12:44 |

Man, after waxing, black cars look sooooooo nice. I really want to do this to my white one but I have never waxed a car before! I know, what is wrong with me
But is anyone able to list the products they use and perhaps the process they follow? Weather is getting niced in New Mexico and I would love to do this in the coming weeks.
