same question here. that would be my only concern, because that intake cone is pointed directly at that filter element

I would be worried that driving in the rain would lead to water going through the grill and onto the cone.
I doubt the water would get into the engine, but it could would starve the engine of air and if it was bad enough could stall the car out leaving you stranded in the rain. not sure if this is a valid concern or not any experience with this thing in the rain |

Ok maybe I'm being overly critical but it would seem like you could accomplish a similar finished product with some heat paint aluminum flashing and felt. Any rate I was reading a post I think on passatworld about a guy who hit a puddle and got water in his cone filter.. which swiftly passed into his engine. Does this stop that from happening or am I just confused? ***edit*** I read that he left the bottom of the airbox in place so i'm guessing yes
BTW... on one of these sites someone had a new air box fab'd out of aluminum for their cold air filter.. I remember him saying it was some indy mechanics that did it for him. Thats what I would want to use. Edited by yesimalex - 06-Dec-2008 at 17:48 |

My thoughts exactly. I hope everything is OK with our friend Firestarter. I've asked one of the mods on PW if he could find out any reason for the disappearance. I'll keep you posted.

Hello Firestarter, I posted in the PassatWorld thread, and I thought I should do so here as well. I'll happily buy one of your creations, and with your permission, I'll drive over to Wisconsin to take delivery, and I'll bring cash. Please feel free to PM me.
