Just noticed this on eBay tonight:

It's apparently had the cambelt changed at 70k miles? Cambelt?

Also, apparently it is very reliable with no faults, except one of the pictures shows it running with the CEL on! ;)

It does make you wonder...

Two red flags. WTF is a cambelt?! lol Is that kind of like checking your turn signal fluid or changing a muffler belt?

Although that is my favorite color for the W8...I'd still run away from it as hard and fast as humanly possible.

Sounds like an owner that didn't know too much about what he had. Although if it's got full VW history it should mean it's been maintained ok.......although VW don't know too much either

Turns out the cambelt was for his Ferrari 456. Now that makes everything clear! The CEL fault relates to 2 ignition coils replaced recently without clearing the codes.

I don't buy that. The mis-fire CEL will extinguish by itself just leaving a "mis-fire intermittent" fault code in the ECU.
