Where would be the best place to get new glass for the passenger sideview mirror. Someone/something smacked into it in a parking lot and the glass cracked into a hundred pieces. The painted mirror housing is cracked also, but I don't know if that can be replaced already painted or does it have to be done yourself? I have not checked the dealer prices (it just happened this evening) but I'm assuming they would be the most expensive. I obviously want to keep the heating option as I use it frequently in the winter.

You should be able to get the glass/mirror replaced at any glass repair shop, like a place that replaces/repairs windshields, rock chips, etc.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to paint the mirror housing if you do buy a new one...if it were me I'd just lose the other one and buy chrome mirror caps...but that's just me.

I have a set of assymetrical mirrors and am amazed (still) how good they are. get a set of these and you'll never have to look over your shoulder again.

Thanks. At this point I might as well may go the whole nine yards and replace the mirrors with the heated/tinted aspherical ones too. No point just trying to find one replacement. I've always been on the fence about the chrome mirror caps. Somedays I like them and other times it strikes me as way to Bling. I guess they do compliment the chrome roof rails and window trim.

I love my mirror caps. They're one of my favorite mods. They set off the chrome trim on the car so well. I highly recommend them.

Call Robert Ford (Riverside VW parts guy) at 951.688.9420. Mention Passat world and get 25% all VW parts.

As for the mirror ECS Tuning has the tinted blue ones.

I completely agree. I had a similar thing happen to me that happened to the OP. Someone just nicked my driver side mirror enough to shatter the mirror and rough up the housing. It was cheaper to buy the (good) chrome caps than it was to buy one cap and have it painted.

At first I was a bit skeptical about the looks of the chrome caps; it almost seemed over the top. That skepticism lasted about a day and now I really like the look especially with the chrome roof rails and trim. I don't think they would look good on a non-W8 car but they look great on the W8.

AnyBody knows where I can get some write up on how to install the chrome mirror cap, I just recieved mine from Dubstop which I though they were made of metal not cheap plastic.
