Where would be the best place to get new glass for the passenger sideview mirror. Someone/something smacked into it in a parking lot and the glass cracked into a hundred pieces. The painted mirror housing is cracked also, but I don't know if that can be replaced already painted or does it have to be done yourself? I have not checked the dealer prices (it just happened this evening) but I'm assuming they would be the most expensive. I obviously want to keep the heating option as I use it frequently in the winter.

You should be able to get the glass/mirror replaced at any glass repair shop, like a place that replaces/repairs windshields, rock chips, etc.
I'm pretty sure you'd have to paint the mirror housing if you do buy a new one...if it were me I'd just lose the other one and buy chrome mirror caps...but that's just me.

I have a set of assymetrical mirrors and am amazed (still) how good they are. get a set of these and you'll never have to look over your shoulder again.

Thanks. At this point I might as well may go the whole nine yards and replace the mirrors with the heated/tinted aspherical ones too. No point just trying to find one replacement. I've always been on the fence about the chrome mirror caps. Somedays I like them and other times it strikes me as way to Bling. I guess they do compliment the chrome roof rails and window trim.

I love my mirror caps. They're one of my favorite mods. They set off the chrome trim on the car so well. I highly recommend them.

Call Robert Ford (Riverside VW parts guy) at 951.688.9420. Mention Passat world and get 25% all VW parts.
As for the mirror ECS Tuning has the tinted blue ones. |

At first I was a bit skeptical about the looks of the chrome caps; it almost seemed over the top. That skepticism lasted about a day and now I really like the look especially with the chrome roof rails and trim. I don't think they would look good on a non-W8 car but they look great on the W8. |

AnyBody knows where I can get some write up on how to install the chrome mirror cap, I just recieved mine from Dubstop which I though they were made of metal not cheap plastic.
