Anybody else interested in getting an ITG panel filter?
It replaces the stock one, just the same as the K&N one.

This is not really a traditional group buy with me taking Paypal, etc.
I'm contacting a distributor to check on the part # to fit our 4.0 BDP.
From what I've seen, they are "off the shelf" but nobody stocks them - they have to be ordered (4 to 6 weeks for them to get here) and there will be price fluctuations due to currency exchange rate for when they actually ship from England.
I'll let them know how many, and everybody will handle their own transaction as far as payment, shipping etc.
They will most likely get shipped from CA or possibly Canada.

now, is this the panel filter that is better than the k&n because this one doesn't use oil (bad for MAF)?

if the shipping is not outrageous, i'd be in for one

I'll give them a call - I was thinking more than 3 people would be interested.
Maybe we'll get a little price break.

Here's what I found out today:
The ITG part number is WB-447.
It is shared with all Passats MY1998+ (1.8T, 2.8 V6, and 4.0 W8), and is the same used in the A4, and some other Audi models.
In the US it can be had for 59.95 plus S&H - I was quoted about 8.00 ground from CA to MN.
www.eurosportacc.com is the website. They are in stock.
I spoke to Rafi - the number is 800.783.3876
He checked the part number from 2 different sources and they both indicated a fit for the W8 4.0L BDP.
With us buying so few, we won't get a special price.
For European members, try www.itgairfilters.com - there must be a seller closer than CA USA.
I plan to check VAG and K&N to make sure they show the same part number for the filter used in Passats with the 1.8T, 2.8 V6, and 4.0 W8.

*edit - K&N shows same p/n for 1.8T & W8 K33332125*

Are the filters oiled or not? I get the impression that they are oiled, but that there is no cleaning/re-oiling required (as with a K&N), at least not for the ProFilter (p/n WB-447). I believe their other products (i.e. Maxogen) do require re-oiling.

When removing the filter out of its plastic bag there may be a residue of oil on the rear of the
filter. If so, just wipe it gently off using kitchen roll or anything similar.
